Does your company do additions to existing homes?
In short yes, but this is not our core business. We do have the skills and abilities to undertake additions.
Do you give quotes for people’s own home designs?

Yes, we do. The great thing about working with Ikon Homes is that we can generally give you a quote from your concept drawings as long as they are advanced enough. If you have full working drawings, all the better.

What is the time period from the home being designed, to completion of the build?

Typically, between 10-12 months, depending on the complexity of the build proposed.

I have a steep section. Do you have designs that will suit this?

With the variables on steep sites they usually require a specific design or an adaptation of a standard plan. It is best that we visit the site with you to see what is important to you, where your access is, how you want to utilise the attributes of the site and live on it as a family.

I am a first home buyer. What are some of the risks I should be aware of?

Looking out for sales people who are only really interested in a sale. Choosing the right site, knowing what your budget is. Make sure that the housing company you choose will give you a fully completed, ready to live in, build price. Ikon Homes understands that building a home is a big investment, and you need to know that when you have spent your budget you have a home to live in. 

Are you able to provide advice on financing a home?

Yes. We have several mortgage brokers that we work with to find our clients the best finance options for you.

Do you guarantee a completion date?

We don’t guarantee a date, but we do provide an expected completion date once slab is down.

Do you offer a warranty that covers the structure and building materials?

We offer a 10-year Halo Build Guarantee through Certified Builders.

Are you able to help us find a section?

Yes. Our new home consultants keep in touch with what sections or subdivisions are available or coming on stream, so they will be ready to assist you in your search.

Are home and land packages cheaper than sourcing our own section?

Generally, there is not much of a difference. The advantage of you owning your own section is that you can buy where you want and not where a house and land package maybe available.

What options are there to heating my home?

When it comes to heating your home, we can facilitate whatever system is going to suit your needs and lifestyle. We have fireplace options (wood or gas), experts to advise on heat pumps or air-conditioning, under-tile heating, and we can utilize the passive heating of the sun through clever design and north-facing windows.

What are some factors that affect the cost of the home design?

The key things that affect the cost of a home build are the shape, design and size of the house, the cladding materials, the internal inclusions, the number of bathrooms, size of the kitchen, if there are decks or covered alfresco areas and so on.

Will you deal with all the council consent issues?

Yes, this is part of our service to our clients.

Do you build homes outside of Auckland?

No, not yet but we have plans to expand to other regions.

Are you able to source materials outside of your basic inclusions? Will this add much time to the build?

Yes, we can, and it shouldn’t make too much difference to time frames because we like to have the specification all sorted before the build begins.
